Home Treatment for Mild Scalp Ring Worm
The scalp, like other skin, can become infected with the ringworm fungus that thrives in moist, dark areas. This can lead to to patches of ringed, discolored skin that flake and cause irritating itches. While doctors and pharmacists can suggest a plethora of over-the-counter drugs and creams for the problem, a home ringworm treatment can help, as well.-
Garlic
-
One age-old home remedy for ringworm on the scalp is garlic. Grate or crush six cloves of garlic, and rub the mass onto the affected skin. Keep the paste-smeared lesion covered with a piece of plastic duct-taped to the scalp skin. Leave undisturbed for 12 hours, and then wash away. Do this once daily for about two weeks. Alternatively, you could make an herbal tincture with four garlic cloves soaked in 100 milliliters of rubbing alcohol in a jar. Keep the jar in direct sunlight, undisturbed, for five days. Strain the tincture, and rub the concoction onto the ringworm lesion on the scalp.
Walnut
-
Buy a few fresh green walnuts from your neighborhood grocery. Remove it from its shell and grind it into a paste. Massage it onto the scalp area affected with ringworm. Duct-tape a piece of plastic to the area and leave it at least 12 hours or overnight. Wash away afterward with cold water. Perform this routine for at least 10 consecutive nights to treat your scalp ringworm infection. Walnut tincture, made with four walnuts soaked in alcohol, and left in the sun for a week, is helpful, too. Rub the tincture onto the ringworm-affected skin many times daily for best results.
Figs
-
You can buy fig leaves from specialty grocers. Tear a single fig leaf, press out the oozing white sap and rub it on the ringworm-affected scalp area. Do not wash away even if it burns a little. Repeat the procedure every four hours, at least three times daily for a week or more, until you see results.
Vinegar
-
Soak some cotton wool in 2 tablespoons of either white or undiluted apple cider vinegar. Place this like a compress on your scalp ringworm and use duct tape to form a poultice. Keep undisturbed for about 30 minutes before you wash away with cold water. Repeat this twice daily for about two weeks.
