Homemade Cellulite Treatments
Small pockets of fat that dimple your skin and appear around your thighs, hips and buttocks are called cellulite. Cellulite happens naturally as we age but the condition can be brought on prematurely by a few factors. While unsightly, cellulite is not dangerous.-
Facts
-
There are three factors that can cause cellulite to appear. First is your diet. Foods that are highly processed can feed your body fewer nutrients and more toxins. Eat healthy organic foods to help eliminate the appearance of cellulite. Secondly, exercise is a fat fighter. If you want to burn fat, including cellulite fat, exercise on a regular basis. Lastly, don't wear undergarments that hinder your blood flow. Underwear that is too tight will slow your blood flow to your lower body and may cause cellulite.
Massage
-
Massage the area of your body that has cellulite while you are in the shower. Alternate hot and cold water on the area, which will stimulate blood flow. Use sea salt as an exfoliant on the cellulite. Rinse off the scrub and then dry off. Using a quality vitamin E lotion, massage vigorously the area of the cellulite. Massage gets the circulation moving and helps burn fat.
Wraps
-
Use a home body wrap for help with cellulite. Clean the area you'll be treating and pat your skin dry. Prepare a wrap formula for your legs (see Resources for cellulite wrap recipes). Common ingredients include ginger root, lemon juice and strawberries. Blend the ingredients and then apply the mix to the affected area. Wrap the area with cellulite in plastic cling wrap and then with aluminum foil. Rest in a warm area for about 20 minutes. Then rinse the mixture from your body with warm water. Pat dry and apply a vitamin E lotion.
Scrubs
-
Try a scrub on the areas that have cellulite. Dead sea salt or sugar scrubs are easy to make at home and can be used several times a week on the area. Coffee grounds can also be used. Bring a cup of the scrub material into the shower with you and apply it to the cellulite. Rinse when you are finished.
Creams
-
Mix a homemade cream for your cellulite. Shea butter is a popular base for cellulite cream because it softens skin. If you want, add a few drops of an essential oil scent you like. Also add vitamin E oil to the mix for further skin softening. Applying your homemade cream after a massaging shower or scrub will give you the best results.
