      Mix together one glass of water and salt until the salt is dissolved.

      Gargle this mixture when you wake up in the morning with a sore throat, and before you go to bed if you still have it. This helps draw out water that has built up in your throat, causing the swelling that is associated with sore throats. You need only gargle for about 30 seconds at a time.

      Brew a nice cup of coffee if you have a cold. Coffee has antioxidant properties to help to soothe your throat.
