List of Fish Oils

Fish oils are oils extracted from the flesh of certain kinds of fish. Fish oils have a number of healthful properties. Because of these properties, many people take supplements containing fish oil. Fish oils are a source of omega-3 and as such are often prescribed to people with heart conditions.
  1. Cod Liver Oil

    • Cod liver oil, as the name suggests, is extracted from the liver of cod. Cod liver oil is taken to reduce the effects of rheumatism and may also help reduce depression. Cod liver oil contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which is believed to have a number of positive health effects including reducing the risk of cancer and heart conditions.

    Anchovy Oil

    • Anchovy oil is used in food, especially Italian cuisine. It is a rich source of iron, calcium and protein. As with cod liver oil, anchovy oil is also high in omega-3 fatty acids and as such also has a beneficial effect on rheumatism.

    Salmon Oil

    • Salmon oil is manufactured from the heads and trimmings of salmon processed for meat. There is evidence to suggest that salmon oil is effective at reducing cholesterol levels. Salmon oil is thought to have a positive effect on rheumatism, because it is also a source of omega-3 fatty acids.
