How to Use Natural Bentonite Gel

Bentonite is a natural clay made of volcanic ash deposits. People used to create poultices out of bentonite for health. Because it retains water well, today's cosmetics producers use it to create a gel for skin-care products, such as face masks. It has a slippery quality that makes it easy to apply on the skin. Bentonite gel removes oil and dirt from the skin. It also helps with wrinkle removal and wound healing.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour one-eighth cup bentonite powder or clay into a shallow bowl.

    • 2

Add 1 cup of water to the bowl.

    • 3

Add another eighth cup of bentonite powder or clay to the shallow bowl. Don't stir the mixture to prevent clumps from forming. Instead, let the bentonite settle for about two to five days.

    • 4

Use a fork to poke small holes in the mixture if the bentonite does not mix well with the water. This helps the water make more contact with the bentonite.

    • 5

Use a spoon to scoop some of the bentonite at the bottom of the shallow bowl and heap it on top of the mixture to help the mixture settle, if necessary.

    • 6

Apply a thin layer of natural bentonite gel to wounds, acne, rashes or other skin conditions.

    • 7

Place an adhesive bandage over the bentonite gel to prevent it from staining clothing or other surfaces. Alternatively, remove the bentonite gel with water after 20 minutes.

    • 8

Apply a half-inch layer of bentonite gel over areas affected by serious ailments, such as internal injuries and bone damage.

    • 9

Wash the bentonite gel off after one hour and repeat the treatment as many times as you can tolerate.
