How to Take Ginger Powder

Many people love the spicy flavor of ginger root in cookies and beverages. For others, ginger is not just a flavorful herb, but also an herbal supplement which is used to treat a wide range of stomach problems. Ginger can be taken to prevent nausea, to treat morning sickness and to mitigate motion sickness. Most often, ginger powder is recommended for medical uses because it is more concentrated than ginger in its other forms.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an empty gel capsule. Since ginger has such a strong, spicy flavor, a large quantity of powdered ginger would be extremely unpleasant to take on its own.

    • 2

Twist a piece of paper into a tight funnel shape. Tape the funnel with a small piece of tape to keep it secured.

    • 3

Insert the funnel into the large end of the gel capsule. Carefully pour the powdered ginger into the capsule until it is most of the way filled. Use a small flat object, such as a hair pin or a coffee stirrer, to pack down the powdered ginger. Pour in more ginger until the capsule is filled and tightly packed.

    • 4

Close the gel capsule and repeat until you have filled several capsules.

    • 5

For nausea or motion sickness, take one or two capsules, up to three times daily. For morning sickness, take 250 milligrams or two loosely filled capsules, up to four times daily.
