The leaves and bark of the Australian melaleuca tree produce tea tree oil, which is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal topical treatment. If you suffer with dandruff, head lice or a dry scalp, add drops of tea tree oil to shampoo to improve or eliminate your symptoms.

Instructions

    • 1

Use an unopened bottle of shampoo so you know how much you have in the bottle. If you use an opened bottle, use a glass measuring cup to gauge the remnant.

    • 2

Mix 10 drops of tea tree oil to every 8 ounces of shampoo. If you have 16 ounces of shampoo, add 20 drops of tea tree oil. If you have 4 ounces of shampoo, add 5 drops of tea tree oil.

Pour the mixture back into the shampoo bottle.

    • 4

Shake the shampoo bottle contents vigorously to distribute the tea tree oil evenly.
