How to Treat a Cold With Garlic and Honey

A cold can make you feel tired and groggy, and some over-the-counter cold medications can add to these feelings because of the ingredients in them. Replace pharmacy cold medicines with a mixture of garlic and honey. Both are all natural antibacterial ingredients that can help improve your immune system while fighting cold-causing germs.

Instructions

    • 1

Peel 4 cloves of garlic and slice each clove in half with the knife to make eight pieces of garlic. Toss the pieces of garlic into the saucepan with four cups of distilled water and boil on medium-high heat. Boil until the mixture emits a garlic scent then remove it from heat.

    • 2

Stir a ½ cup of raw honey into the garlic water while it is still hot and squeeze all of the juice of one lemon into your mixture.

    • 3

Place the strainer over a bowl. Pour the mixture through the strainer to remove the pieces of garlic. Pour mixture into a sealable container and store it in your refrigerator.

    • 4

Microwave a cup of the mixture until warm and add a slice of lemon to it. Drink a cup of the honey and garlic tea every three to four hours while the cold persists, or at the first symptoms of a cold to thwart it.
