How to Make a Rue Tincture
Things You'll Need
- 80 to100 proof vodka or rum (never use rubbing, isopropyl or wood alcohol)
- Wide-mouthed glass jar with lid (mason jar or equivalent)
- Dark bottles with dropper for storing tincture
- Unbleached cheesecloth or muslin
- Marker
- Label
- Goat's rue leaves

Fill the mason jar approximately 1/3 full with the goat's rue leaves.

Pour the alcohol over the herbs until the alcohol comes to 1 to 2 inches above the herbs. Seal the jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Store the jar in a warm, dark place for two weeks. Shake the bottle every day.

After two weeks, place the cheesecloth in a sieve over another jar. Pour the tincture mixture through the sieve to capture the herb leaves.

Store the tincture in a dark bottle or bottles with droppers.
