Mullein, also called common mullein or verbascum thapsus, grows wild across the United States. Considered a weed in some locations, it can grow up to 12 feet high, with a basal rosette of soft, velvety leaves up to one-foot long. In the second year, a spike grows up with smaller leaves. Small, yellow flowers bloom from June to September.
