Indian Healing Herbs
Indian Herbs have both medicinal and sacred healing properties that have been acknowledged and respected throughout generations. Indian herbs have been used as part of sacred rituals by healing doctors, also known as Vaidyas of India, as per Ayurveda. Such conveys the espoused venture of spirituality and healing within the Indian culture, as the two are both as equally important. To date, Indian Herbs remain an important source for alternative medicine in both Eastern and Western cultures.-

According to Mother Herb, the medicinal use and purpose of herbs are as ancient as civilization. The first acknowledged and written account of curative plants was found among the Sumerian herbals of 2200 B.C. The Greek doctor Hippocrates also listed approximately 400 herbs commonly used during his era of the fifth century B.C. This confirms the historicity of its usage. Indian Herbs from the country of India, have always been prevalent to the culture and history of India. According to Ayurveda, "Indian herbs are a significant part of the history of Ayurveda, the system of traditional medicine which is now popularly called alternative medicine."

According to Ayurveda, Henna, Rhubarb, Liquorice, Psyllium Husk, Guggul, Sarsaparilla, Ginger-root, Aloe, Sandalwood and Basil, are a few of the many herbs used by the Indian culture for healing. Indian herbs that have become popular to Western culture, include turmeric, commonly used for the treatment of infections and boils, and Kava-Kava, which is a sleep inducer, as reported on the I Love India website. Some of the noted healing properties of Indian Herbs include, but are not limited to, abortifacients, analgesics, antiasthmatics, antibacterials, anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. Many of these herbs can be consumed and/or topically applied to the body for ayurvedic treatments of the infirmed.

There are numerous benefits for using Indian Herbs: Clarity of thought, relaxation, blood purifier, other. However, uneducated use of particular herbs can be dangerous, causing adverse side effects even with prescription medicine. Another disadvantage is that unlike synthetic medicines, it can take a while for you to notice any significant difference in your health when using natural herbs. Consistency in use is important. Some people are also allergic to various herbs. Consult with your physician prior to use.
