Nausea and Vomiting

In large doses, Winter Cherry has been known to cause mild stomach upset and even vomiting. Decrease your dosage or stop taking Winter Cherry if you experience nausea or vomiting. It is not recommended for people with stomach ulcers as it may aggravate the condition.
Diarrhea

Winter Cherry has been known to cause diarrhea if taken in large doses. Decrease your dose or stop taking the supplement if you experience severe diarrhea.
Pregnancy and Breast Feeding

It is generally not recommended that Winter Cherry be taken while pregnant or breast-feeding. Although there is no substantial evidence to relate the herb to miscarriage, some studies suggest there may be a link. There is also not enough research to make any conclusive statement that it is safe to take while breast-feeding.
