How to Use Grapeseed Oil in Salve
Salves are rich, healing balms that use the powerful medicinal properties of oils and herbs to treat skin. They can be made using any variety of oils and herbs depending on your preference and skin condition. Grape seed oil is light and easily absorbed into the skin, so it works perfectly as a carrier oil for salves. Research a variety of herbs to decide on the particular blend you'd like for this healing ointment.Things You'll Need
- 1 cup grape seed oil
- 1 oz. dried herbs
- 1/2 oz. beeswax, grated
- 1/2 tsp. Vitamin E oil

Instructions

1
Preheat your oven to 200 degree Fahrenheit.
-
2
Pour your herbs into the casserole dish then add the oil. Put the herb mixture into the oven and heat for three hours. Once complete, this mixture is called infused oil.
-
3
Allow the mixture to cool for about 20 minutes. You want it to be a comfortable temperature to handle but you don't want it to cool entirely.
-
4
Strain the herbs from the oil using your cheesecloth. Make sure you squeeze all the infused oil from the cheesecloth so that you don't lose any of the product.
-
5
Pour the oil into your saucepan and heat on very low heat. Once warm, add the Vitamin E oil.
-
6
Add the beeswax and mix to melt completely into the infused oil. Stir until completely blended.
-
7
Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Pour the mixture into your storage containers and allow to cool completely. The salve will solidify as it cools.
