What Is the Treatment Time for Candida Using Pau D'Arco Tea?
Pau d'arco is a type of tree only found in the Andes. Used by the Incas prior to the arrival of the Conquistadors, the medicinal properties of the bark of this tree were rediscovered in the late twentieth century. Candida albicans is a yeast infection that may be effectively treated with pau d'arco, although treatment time varies.-
Features
-
Researchers have discovered that the pau d'arco tree is uniquely resistant to fungal infections. Most plants when exposed to rain become covered in fungal spores. This does not happen with the pau d'arco tree. As a result, researchers surmised that it might be useful in treating people with yeast or mold allergies, and would be useful in preventing the growth of Candida albicans.
Treatment
-
Dr. Jeffrey Anderson of Mill Valley, California, treated a woman with a persistent candida infection using the tea as a vaginal douche. He reports that two hours after the treatment the yeast infection had cleared up. He recommends that his Candida patients drink half a cup to 1 cup of the tea daily, increasing to four cups daily by the end of the first month of treatment.
Considerations
-
It is impossible to define an expected treatment time for candida using pau d'arco tea, as each person has a unique response to any remedy. It is also important to remember that in some people taking the tea may cause the condition to get worse. Clinical nutritionist Byron J. Richards warns patients to reduce the dosage, or stop for a few days, if they experience headaches or nausea.
