Borage oil is derived from the borage flower, and is mainly used as an herbal remedy for bothersome skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.-

Follow the directions on the bottle of the borage oil supplement. It is also a good idea to speak with your doctor or pharmacist about how much borage oil you should take, because it may depend upon your specific condition.
Side Effects

Borage oil can cause some side effects like digestive issues, such as diarrhea, constipation or gas. It may also cause an allergic reaction with side effects like itching, hives, rash, trouble breathing, swelling of hands and face or a tingling in the mouth or throat. If this happens, discontinue use and call your doctor.
Interactions and Other Hazards

Speak with your doctor before taking borage oil if you are pregnant, nursing or taking blood thinning medication. Also note that borage oil and borage leaf are different medications, and borage leaf cannot be taken internally.
