1
Grind each of the herbs into powder. A mortar and pestle or coffee grinder should grind them to the appropriate consistency.
-
2
Blend together 5 oz. burdock root, 3 oz. sheep sorrel herb, 2 tsps. turkey rhubarb root, and 0.8 oz slippery elm root. This recipe is the original Rene Caisse recipe, according to medicinal herb expert Shari Soza.
-
3
Store the blend in an airtight plastic bag or glass container. Keep the container out of direct sunlight, which can cause the deterioration of herbs, say the experts at the North Carolina State University Extension Office.
-
4
Brew the tea. Place 2 ozs. herbal blend directly into 2 qts. boiling water. Shari Soza recommends boiling the mixture for 10 minutes, letting it cool for six hours and stirring, then bringing back to a boil.
