How to Use Garlic and Catnip to Promote Sweating

Sweating, or increased perspiration, is one of the body's methods of ridding itself of toxins. Sweating also regulates body temperature and water and mineral content. It occurs through the sweat glands, of which there are two types. One type of sweat gland is found under the arms and around the groin while the other type is found nearly everywhere on the body, particularly on the palms and the soles of feet. It is normal to perspire more during exercise, in hot weather or when ill. Anxiety, fear, and stress can also cause excess perspiration, and some people are simply more prone to sweating than others. Some herbs promote sweating, which can help fight infection in the body. Two such herbs are garlic and catnip, both of which contain sweating properties. Garlic is anti-bacterial and catnip aids the digestive tract, which also help the body fight infection.
