How to Stop Bleeding With Yarrow
In Greek mythology, the hero Achilles used yarrow to treat his wounds and those of fellow soldiers. Yarrow is a medicinal plant found all over the world and can grow anywhere, from meadows and pastures to wastelands and sides of highways. Yarrow contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory unstable oils, tannins, resins and silica. Tannins and resins contain astringents and silica repairs the body's worn-out or damaged tissues. Yarrow's sterile qualities help clean wounds and prevent infection. Such properties make yarrow an excellent topical remedy for bleeding from cuts and other wounds.Things You'll Need

1
Cut fresh yarrow leaves from the stalks of the yarrow plant. Place in a medium-sized bowl.

2
Pour white distilled vinegar over leaves for a thorough cleaning. Dump the vinegar out of the bowl and rinse the leaves twice with water. Rinsing leaves two times helps ensure no vinegar remains.
-
3
Wrap the cleansed leaves on the affected area(s). Secure with bandages. Leave the yarrow on until all bleeding stops, which should be a minute or two. The leaves can also remain on longer for further cleansing of the wound.
