How to Use Green Clay Packs

Green clay can be used internally and topically to treat a wide variety of ills, including migraines, gastrointestinal problems and even drug addictions. Green clay is edible when properly prepared, but you should never simply consume clay that you may have found outside on your own. Green clay packs are used to treat problems from the outside of the body, and may be used at home in comfort and safety.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a paste with your green clay by soaking a lump of it in warm water. The clay should be completely submerged. You can leave it in the water for 15 to 60 minutes. If the clay appears to be dissolving in the water, then it is time to remove it. When you do, you should find that you have created a soft, malleable paste. Place the bandages in the tub as well to saturate them with the green clay.

    • 2

Mash the green clay. Put the green clay on the cutting board and manipulate it with the spatula and your hands. You may wish to wear gloves to keep your skin clean. Knead the clay until it can be easily spread. It should be like thick mud. If necessary, return the lump to the warm water briefly to make it more pasty.

    • 3

Apply the clay to the injured area of the body. You can use the spatula or your hands. If you are treating recent muscle damage, then apply the clay about an inch thick. If you are treating a chronic skin condition or carpal tunnel syndrome, the application can be about half an inch thick. If you are treating migraines or internal injuries, then you will need to use the saturated bandages.

    • 4

Wrap the layer of clay with the saturated bandages. This creates a green clay pack. If you need to lay the pack directly on the nape of the neck, for example, then make a patty of clay and wrap the entire thing in the saturated bandages. This is particularly effective for treating migraines and expediting healing of bruises.

Change the clay packs before they dry. Depending on the thickness, this could take 30 minutes or over an hour. For migraines, switch the pack between the nape of the neck and the forehead every 20 minutes until it dries.
