1
Make a tea by steeping 2 teaspoons of dried marshmallow root in one cup of boiling water and let it steep for approximately one and a half hours. Strain the tea to remove the herb and rewarm it and sip slowly to treat sore throats.
-
2
Gargle with marshmallow root tea, sweetened with honey to soothe tender mouth and throat tissues. For sore gums, brush your teeth lightly with baking soda to which you add a few drops of marshmallow root extract.
-
3
Drink marshmallow root frequently to soothe stomach upset, peptic ulcers, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The tea may also help soothe and reduce the swelling of inflamed hemorrhoids.
-
4
Use marshmallow root tea as a wash to speed the healing of minor burns and superficial cuts and scrapes. You may make a compress and place it directly on the irritated site or fill a plastic spray bottle with the tea and spray the wound. Spraying marshmallow root tea on a sunburn eases the sting.
