Known as Palma Christi (the palm of Christ) for its healing properties, castor oil is a popular home remedy. It is used externally in the form of packs to treat many conditions.

    Use

    • Fold a long piece of wool flannel into 2 or 3 layers. Saturate the cloth with oil and place it on the area to be treated. Cover the area with plastic wrap, and place a heating device such as a hot water bag on it. Leave the pack on for at least 30 minutes, and repeat treatments several times weekly.

    Warning

    • Castor oil packs should not be used by pregnant, breastfeeding or menstruating women. The oil should not be ingested and should not be not used on broken skin.
