Maxiderm Side Effects
Maxiderm is the brand name of an herbal supplement patch advertised as increasing the girth of your penis. Though they are natural, the ingredients in Maxiderm pose a risk for side effects in some patients.-
Ingredients
-
The ingredients in the Maxiderm patch include epimedium, cuscuta seed, ginkgo, Panax ginseng, saw palmetto, muira puama, catuaba bark and hawthorn berry, according to the supplement's website. The patch is designed for these herbs to enter your bloodstream, which poses risks for similar side effects to ingesting them.
Types of Side Effects
-
Possible side effects of epimedium include dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst and nosebleeds, reports RxList. Panax ginseng use may result in insomnia, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhea, itching, skin rashes and mood changes.
Drug Interactions
-
When combined with blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin, epimedium, saw palmetto and ginkgo pose a risk for severe or uncontrollable bleeding following an injury or surgery, explains RxList. The combination of hawthorn and types of drugs that affect heart rhythm such as digoxin, propranolol, amlodipine and nitroglycerin may cause severe hypertension.
Risks
-
Both Panax ginseng and saw palmetto have the potential to cause liver dysfunction or permanent liver damage, warns RxList. Rarely, patients who use Panax ginseng develop a life-threatening skin condition known as Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Considerations
-
If you are scheduled for surgery within the next two weeks or have a history of hypotension, bleeding problems, seizures, convulsions, epilepsy, a heart condition, diabetes, breast cancer, insomnia, an organ transplant, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or any autoimmune disease, it may not be safe for you to take Maxiderm due to its ingredients, cautions RxList.
