Zyrexin Dangers
The market is flooded with supplements claiming they help men overcome erectile dysfunction. Among these supplements is Zyrexin. Superbalife International, a distributors of Zyrexin, claims the erectile dysfunction supplement has no side effects. The company, however, has not posted or made available any research to support this claim. It does not provide a complete list of ingredients used in Zyrexin on its website, and the ingredients listed are not the most dangerous ones used in the supplement.-
Considerations
-
The dangers of Zyrexin stem from the combination of ingredients used in the supplement. Zyrexin contains L-arginine, yohimbine and epimedium. All of these ingredients pose health risks and have potentially fatal side effects. Always consult a doctor before taking any supplements. Seek immediate medical attention if any side effects occur while taking Zyrexin.
L-arginine
-
Allergic reactions may occur while taking a supplement that contains L-arginine. Allergy symptoms include difficulty breathing, hives, itching and rash. Severe allergic reactions lead to anaphylactic shock, which can result in death. Taking L-arginine may result in nausea, stomach cramps, or frequent bowel movements. Disruptions in chemical and electrolyte balances occur. Potassium, chloride, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine levels become dangerously high. Blood pressure, sodium and phosphate levels become dangerously low. Kidney and liver disease patients are particularly susceptible to dangerous fluctuations in chemical and electrolyte levels when taking the supplement. L-arginine increases bleeding risks for patients taking anticoagulant and antiplatelet medications. L-arginine may unexpectedly raise blood sugar levels in diabetics.
Yohimbine
-
Taking yohimbine can result in increased heart rate and blood pressure levels. Taking large doses of yohimbine can lead to severe drops in blood pressure, resulting in cardiac arrests, heart attacks and fatalities. Blood pressure rises to dangerous levels when patients who take yohimbine eat foods containing tyramine. Foods containing tyramine include aged cheese or meat, liver, some alcoholic beverages and smoked meats. Side effects of yohimbine include difficulty breathing, dizziness, headache, flushing, sweating, tremors, chest pain, heart palpitations, anxiety, nausea, sleeplessness and vomiting. Yohimbine worsens symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks and manic episodes in psychiatric patients.
Epimedium
-
Epimedium dangerously lowers blood pressure in patients taking hypertension medications. It increases bleeding risks in patients taking anticoagulants. Adverse effects occur when patients combine epimedium with anti-depressants, heart medications and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Dangers of epimedium include an increased heart rate and severe mood swings. Other side effects of epimedium include difficulty breathing, dry mouth, headaches, insomnia, muscle spasms, nausea, nosebleeds, vomiting and vision disruptions such as blurring.
