Uses of Lime Oil

Manufacturers make lime essential oil in two ways, by either cold compressing fresh lime peels or steam distilling dried ones. Like the fruit it comes from, lime oil has antioxidant properties, which make it a great natural alternative to some medications. Here's a list of its benefits.
  1. Fever Reducer

    • Lime essential oil helps the body fight what causes fever, such as colds, allergies and bacterial infections, bringing the body back to its normal temperature.

    Blood Vessel Toner

    • Acting as an astringent, lime oil contracts blood vessels and helps decrease bleeding. In addition, it acts as a coagulant making bleeding stop altogether.

    Antiseptic

    • Both taken internally and applied topically, lime oil acts as an antiseptic, ending or preventing skin infections and internal inflammation.

    Antiviral

    • Lime essential oil fights and prevents infectious diseases, such as mumps, measles and colds.

    Disinfectant and Bactericidal

    • Added to food, lime oil preserves the food by killing bacteria. Ingested, it heals bacterial infection in the organs. Applied topically, it both protects the skin and cures microbial infections.
