How to Make Your Own Tincture of Comfrey Root

Herbalists have long known that comfrey has healing powers. The leaves, flowers and root all contain different curative substances. The root contains allantoin, which helps heal wounds, broken bones, and scar tissue. When applied to the skin, it also spreads quickly to underlying tissue, helping reduce inflammation and promote healing. You can make your own tincture of comfrey root, which is an extract of the medicinal alkaloids and the volatile oils from the root, much like vanilla extract. You must use alcohol because the healing substances in the root do not dissolve in water.
