1
Consider dandelion. According to Michael DiPalma, N.D., dandelion is a strong diuretic that helps to replace and regulate potassium levels. An imbalance of potassium levels can lead to further water retention. Take dandelion leaves (from a yard free from chemicals or purchased at the grocery store as a salad green) or root as a strong-brewed tea to relieve water retention.

Take grape seed extract. Some research shows that grape seed extract is effective at relieving water retention due to poor circulation by strengthening veins. The University of Maryland Medical Center suggests a dose of 360 mg of grape seed extract twice daily.

Try bilberry extract. Like grape seed extract, bilberry extract is believed to strengthen veins to allow the proper removal of fluid. Bilberry is effective in many forms including as berries, a strong tea or caplets containing the extract.
