Supplements for Dandruff Control
Although dandruff is not a disease, it is unsightly and uncomfortable. Most people who suffer from dandruff want to get rid of it quickly. There are several ways to treat dandruff, from scalp treatments to oral supplements.-
Tea Tree Oil

It is easily available for purchase over the counter. Simply add a small amount to your shampoo; in the study cited, tea tree oil made up 5% of the total volume.
Ketoconazole Shampoo

A study conducted by Dr. Danby et. al, published in Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, showed conclusive evidence that shampoo containing 2 percent ketoconazole can effectively treat dandruff.
Honey

According to Dr. Maloney, a naturopathic doctor, if you leave a solution of watered down honey on your scalp, let it dry for three hours, and then wash it off, dandruff will disappear in one week.
Oral Medication

According to a study conducted by Dr. Steven A. Smith et. al, published in Alternative medicine review, an oral solution composed of Potassium bromide 1X, Sodium bromide 2X, Nickel sulfate 3X and Sodium chloride 6X can significantly improve the condition of dandruff after 10 weeks of treatment.
Fatty acids

A study conducted by Dr. C.R. Harding et. al revealed that dandruff correlates with decreased levels of omega 3 fatty acids in the body. Daily consumption of fatty acid supplements can lower the possibility of developing dandruff. Natural forms of omega 3s include fish, flax seed, canola oil, leafy vegetables, sunflower seeds and walnuts.
