Homeopathy for Healthy Teeth With Braces

Braces are part of life for many teens and young adults. They are usually worn anywhere from two to four years. During that time, it is important to keep your teeth clean and healthy so that when your braces come off you have a radiant smile. Marshall Loverign, a dentist in Aberdeen, South Dakota, has several common-sense and homeopathic suggestions for keeping teeth with braces healthy.
  1. Keep Clean

    • It is important for even those without braces to brush their teeth twice a day, and it's even more important for braces wearers, says Loverign. He suggests cleaning your teeth with regular toothpaste sprinkled with a little bit of baking soda twice a day as well as after every meal. Since brushing is more difficult when your teeth have braces, Loverign suggests brushing for 30 seconds longer than you would otherwise and changing toothbrushes every month to make sure that the bristles do their job properly.

    Avoid Unhealthy Things

    • Continue to keep your teeth healthy while wearing braces by avoiding things that create problems for your teeth. Candy and sugared foods aren't good for your teeth normally, and they are worse for teeth with braces because sugar can become trapped under braces, between braces and between teeth. Braces will affect your ability to see things on your teeth, and if sugar sits there for more than a few hours, it will start to eat away at the enamel of your teeth. Similarly, peanuts and other hard foods also are easily trapped in braces and teeth.

    Homeopathic Teeth Care

    • There are several other homeopathic remedies for taking care of your teeth while you have braces.
Use some herbs that can help bring nutrients to your teeth. These include blue-green algae, nettles, alfalfa, horsetail and oatstraw.
Get plenty of calcium by consuming dairy products or supplements. Brigittemars.com suggests taking extra calcium as well as magnesium to promote strong teeth overall.
Avoid a possible vitamin C deficiency, which will loosen your teeth and make caring for them harder. Get plenty of vitamin C in your diet or take supplements to help your teeth remain strong.
Other supplements that aid dental care include vitamin B, folic acid and coenzyme Q10.
