How to Take Digestive Enzymes on an Empty Stomach

Your body needs enzymes for the vitamins and minerals you ingest to work properly. As their name suggests, digestive enzymes are enzymes that aid the body in digesting food. Digestive enzymes are also responsible for helping clean your blood. Your body produces digestive enzymes naturally, but over-the-counter supplements are available for people with digestive disorders. If you are suffering from acid reflux, constipation or indigestion, you can expect to see results within a few days of taking digestive enzymes.

Instructions

    • 1

Wait two hours after your last meal before you take the digestive enzymes. This will give your stomach enough time to empty itself out.

    • 2

Get a glass of water and use it to swallow one digestive enzyme tablet. Finish the glass of water.

    • 3

Repeat this again two more times throughout the day for seven days. The best times to take the enzymes are between meals.

    • 4

Add a second pill after the first week is over. Now you should be taking two pills three times per day. Remember that you must not have eaten at least two hours before taking the pills. Do this for one week.

    • 5

Add a third pill to your regimen. This is the final stage. You can now continue to take three digestive enzyme pills three times per day for as long as you need or want.
