How to Use Willow Bark As Medicine
Willow bark has been used by humans for several thousands of years for medicinal purposes. It contains salicin, a predecessor to aspirin. People were instructed to chew directly on the bark for pain and fever relief, but modern users have developed more enjoyable ways to utilize this natural remedy.Things You'll Need
- Mild dish detergent
- Clean cloth
- Small saucepan
- 8 oz. water
- 2 tsp. dried willow bark
- Fine mesh strainer
- Mug

Clean the saucepan with a mild detergent. Rinse the pan thoroughly to rid the inside of all residue and soap. Dry with a clean cloth.

Turn your stove burner on to high.

Pour water into the saucepan, and bring the water to a boil. Add the dried willow bark to the boiling water.

Turn the burner down to low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Turn off the burner, and remove the saucepan from the heat. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

Place the strainer over a mug, and pour the liquid through the strainer into the mug. Discard the bark.

Drink up to four times daily to relieve pain and discomfort.
