Home Remedy Eyeball Cleansing
-
Herbal Eyewashes
-
For fast relief, make a eyewash of 2 tsp. of water and 1 tsp. of liquid eyebright in a cup or plastic container. Stir the mixture well before washing your eyes with the solution. The herb goldenseal can be substituted for eyebright. Make sure you buy the liquid form of the herbs. The herbs are found in most health food stores and vitamin stores. Witch hazel can also be used in place of eyebright to make the eyewash.
Teabags
-
For relief from itchy and irritated eyes when you can't mix and apply an eye solution, soak a tea bag in warm water for a minute and then place it on your irritated eye. Note, do not use the same teabag on both eyes.
For added relief, squeeze the teabag gently to release a small amount of the tea into your eye.
Rose Water And Lime Juice
-
Mix 2 tbsp. of lime juice and 2 tbsp. of rose water in a plastic bottle that has a cap. Shake the mixture gently and apply the mixture to your eyes with a eye dropper. Use the rose water/lime juice mixture daily when you awake to reduce redness, itchiness and irritation.
Alum Powder And Rose Water
-
Mix in a plastic container or bowl 30 g of rose water and 4 g of alum powder. Stir the mixture well and use a eye dropper to apply the mixture to your eyes each night. The alum powder/rose water mixture will help relieve redness in your eyes and eyestrain.
Fennel Seeds
-
Mix 1 cup of water and ½ tsp. of fennel seeds in a pot or microwave-safe bowl. Bring the fennel seed mixture to a boil on the stove or in the microwave for three to four minutes. Let the fennel seed mixture cool. Then use a eye dropper to apply the mixture to your eyes. This mixture can also be stored in a plastic bottle and used later.
