Homeopathic medicine is an excellent alternative to Western medicine for the treatment of a cold. A cold is a viral infection that your body has contracted. • Aconite should be taken the minute you feel you may be coming down with a cold. If you are suffering from a sore throat and a cough, aconite would be an excellent cold treatment for you. Take allium cepa if you have a runny nose and watery eyes and are frequently sneezing. Anas barbariae sold as Oscillococcinum (as well as other brand names) is an excellent homeopathic cold treatment, that should be taken at the early stages of the cold. Once the cold has developed this will not work. Take arsenicum album if you have symptoms of weakness, restlessness and the chills.

  Belladona should be taken for those who show symptoms of a headache or a high fever. Take bryonia alba if you are suffering from a chest cold and a cough. Dulcamara is taken when you have a nasal discharge, a hoarse voice, an earache, diarrhea, cold sores or you are thirsty. Take euphrasi if you are suffering from a burning eye discharge and a runny nose. Echinacea with goldenseal is beneficial in supporting the immune system and for those who have contracted a cold.

  Ferrum phos should be taken during the cold season to prevent you from contracting a cold. Take gelsemium if you have the chills, your throat hurts, your body aches and you feel weak. Hepar sulph should be taken if you have the following symptoms: runny nose, yellow mucous discharge, sneezing and the chills. Take kali bichrom if you notice you have a thick mucous (yellow or green discharge) and are suffering from sinus headaches. Natrum mur can be taken if you are sneezing and have a white thin discharge, or cold sores. Take nux vomica if you have the chills, a headache, a runny nose and a sore throat. Pulsatilla is taken when someone is suffering from nosebleeds and a headache. Take rhus tox if you have a thick yellow or green discharge from your nose and a dry cough.
