How to Encapsulate Natural Herbs
Herbal medicine is very effective, but not all herbs taste good. By encapsulating these herbs, you can avoid drinking an unpleasant tea or taking an bitter tincture. Capsules are convenient and easily stored. You can select your own herbs to assure that they are fresh, organic and contain no added fillers. And making your own herbal capsules instead of purchasing them saves money.Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Mortar and pestle or blender or coffee grinder

1
Rinse the fresh herb leaves and dry them thoroughly. Dry them first on paper towels and then on a screen in a sunny, dry location. The leaves can be removed from their stems when fully dry.
-
2
Grind the leaves into a fine powder by crushing them using a mortar and pestle or throwing them into a blender or coffee grinder. Process a small amount of dry herbs at a time, only adding more when it is fully blended.

3
Place the capsule machine onto a dish. Gently pull apart the capsules, putting the small end on top of the base. Put the larger part on top of the capsule machine.
-
4
Spoon the herb onto the top of the capsule machine. Using an index card, spread the herb from side to side to funnel it into the capsules. Use the tapper to pack down the herbs, and add more powder to fill the capsules. Repeat this step one more time, and then put the top of the capsule machine on. Press it down to put the capsules together. Take the top out, and then squeeze it to push the caps out.
