Gingervitis Home Remedy
Gingivitis is classified as the inflammation of the gums. If left untreated it can lead to periodontal disease. Gingivitis is caused by deposits of bacteria, food particles and body fluids that form into a sticky substance, known as plaque, that sticks to the teeth. The swelling of the gums creates sockets where more plaque forms creating more space for infections to form.-

The simplest home remedy for gingivitis is brushing the teeth. Brushing with goldenseal powder is recommended for at least one month after the diagnosis of gingivitis. Using a soft bristled toothbrush and changing it every month is also advised, along with disinfecting the toothbrush between uses, is also advisable. Flossing is also recommended as a way to remove food from between the teeth and stimulating the tissue below the gum line.
Diet also plays a part in the prevention of gingivitis. A diet of high fiber foods with little or no refined sugar will help prevent gingivitis. Sugar also is one of the components of the plaque that builds up on the teeth and gum. By limiting sugar intake less plaque is formed.
According to Phyllis Balch, author of the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing, a daily dose of 100 milligrams of Coenzyme Q10 promotes gum growth. High dosages of Vitamin C, up to 10,000 milligrams per day, also promote the healing of the gums.
Herbal treatments including clove oil, Echinacea and chamomile tea can be applied directly to the gums to soothe discomfort and promote healing. These substances can be rubbed into the gums with the fingertips. The massage also increases the circulation of blood in the gums which also promotes healing.
Supplemental doses of calcium and magnesium can help the body maintain bone density and prevent bone loss around the gums.
Gingivitis might be a sign of other health problems. One of the symptoms of Vitamin C deficiency is bleeding gums. Anemia and even oral cancer are other diseases with gum disease symptoms. A dental professional should diagnose any ongoing gum problem.
