Homeopathic Colon Remedies

Problems in the colon can develop from poor eating habits, or from carrying tension in your gut. Interrupted passage of food and waste through the intestines confines gas and solids, causing spasms, bloating, constipation, mucus and pain. Prescribed antibiotics and medications that relieve symptoms in the stomach and colon can disturb the balance of friendly bacteria found in the intestines. Cure your colon troubles with applied, sensible knowledge.
  1. Eat to Heal

    • Your digestive system can heal itself if you consume wholesome food. Eat a diet of juiced raw vegetables, gradually adding raw fruit juices, and then whole vegetables, fruits and brown rice. Wheat may be painful or binding, so eat rye or Ezekiel bread. Flaxseed nutritionally aids regular elimination. It can be added by the teaspoon to drinks and oatmeal, sprinkled on peanut butter and salads, or eaten by the spoonful. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Note what you eat for a meal. Do not lounge around after eating. Sit up and pay attention to how you feel. Eliminate foods that make you feel sluggish, nauseous or cause an allergic reaction. Do not eat foods that contain high-fructose corn syrup or trans fats. Trans fats are the same as "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil." Foods with additives offer little to no nutritional value.

    Herbs

    • Herbs are also wholesome and healing foods. These can be eaten fresh, taken in capsule form, consumed in a tea or added as a tincture. Dosage in capsule form is two to four daily. Take 1 tsp. of tincture every four hours or twice a day.

Chamomile, catnip and aloe vera calm the digestive tract. Peppermint, dill and fennel aid digestive problems and constipation. Replace the natural flora in your intestines with Lactobacillus acidophilus purchased from your local health-food store. This source of friendly bacteria is more plentiful than what you can eat in a container of yogurt.

    De-Stress

    • Your mind interacts with the energy of your body. Identify where your stressors are. Cope with long-term problematic situations with optimism. Find beautiful, positive things for which you are thankful. Learn how to love yourself and your life.

Create a peaceful atmosphere at home using natural lighting and calming decorative colors like blue, green, pink and violet. Breathing in the scent of lavender essential oil tells your brain to release a hormone called serotonin that causes you to feel calm. Add a few drops of lavender to your bath, light a candle. Massage oil mixed with a drop of lavender onto your stomach area and relax. Hippocrates, the Greek father of medicine, said, "The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day."

Consult a physician if you are seriously ill. Eat nutritious foods, exercise daily and create positive energy in your life. Results can be an improved mental outlook, more physical vitality, an increase in productivity, and possibly improved relationships.
