Home Remedy for Face Warts

According to the University of Maryland, face warts are usually categorized as flat warts because they are normally smoother and smaller than the typical warts that occur on the hands or feet. Flat warts are defined as small pink growths that feature a flat surface. These warts can maintain their appearance, or they may grow into clusters. Home remedies for facial warts can reduce the duration and appearance of these common ailments without introducing harmful chemicals to the skin.
  1. Green Tea

    • Green tea has been used for centuries for its taste as well as for its medicinal qualities, according to the University of Maryland. Green tea contains a high level of antioxidants, which fight off free radicals that cause cellular damage. These antioxidant properties are derived from polyphenols which, according to the University of Maryland, provide greater antioxidant support than vitamin C. When green tea is consumed internally or applied topically, the polyphenols work to reduce inflammation and repair cell damage from free radicals. To treat facial warts, consuming at least three cups of green tea per day will increase the amount of antioxidants available to reduce the duration of a wart outbreak.

To treat facial warts topically with green tea, boil 2 cups of water and place a teabag of green tea into the water; allow it to steep for three minutes. Remove the teabag and place it on a plate to cool. Once the teabag is comfortable to the touch, place it directly on the facial wart and allow it to soak into the wart for 10 minutes. Repeat this process two times per day until the wart has cleared.

    Aloe Vera

    • Aloe Vera is commonly used for its ability to treat skin conditions such as burns, genital herpes and warts. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, aloe comprises two 2 active compounds which include polysaccharides and glycoproteins. Both of these compounds work to reduce pain and inflammation and to stimulate skin-cell repair and growth. When aloe is applied to warts, the healing properties will reduce any inflammation and will promote the skin cells to repair damage that the wart has caused. As the skin repairs itself, the wart will begin to lift and will eventually fall off.

To apply aloe to a facial wart, pour 1 to 2 tbsp. of pure aloe vera gel into a container. Place a cotton ball into the aloe and allow it to soak for several minutes. Once the cotton ball has sufficiently absorbed the aloe, place directly over the wart and secure the cotton ball with an adhesive bandage. Allow the aloe to rest on the wart for at least an hour. Repeat this application every day until the wart has fallen off.

    Apple Cider Vinegar

    • Apple cider vinegar has been used as a flavoring for foods as well as for medicinal purposes for centuries. Vinegar is very acidic and, when applied to a wart, it will begin to dry out the wart, according to Herbal News Magazine. Prior to starting this remedy ensure that you have purchased unfiltered apple cider vinegar, available at any health food store.

To begin this treatment, run warm water over a washcloth and place it directly onto the wart to soften its exterior. After 10 minutes, dip a cotton ball into the apple cider vinegar and apply directly on the wart. Secure the cotton ball by covering it with an adhesive bandage and allow the solution to soak into the wart for 10 minutes. Repeat this process two times per day until the wart has disappeared.
