Cold Feet Cures

Cold feet cures will help to improve blood circulation to the feet, increase body temperature and warm the skin on the feet. Improve blood circulation through simple exercises and changes to clothes and shoes; increase body temperature with herbal teas and spices, and raise the temperature of the skin on your feet with the use of cayenne pepper.
  1. Improve Circulation to the Feet

    • Give your feet a quick massage every morning when you wake up. Start with the heels and ankles and work your way down to the toes; use deep penetrating massage with your fingers to increase circulation and then finish the massage by gently rubbing your legs.

If your feet feel cold during the day, perform a quick foot warming exercise to bring blood to the feet. Stand up on your tip toes for few minutes before quickly coming down to rest on your heels; perform these exercise a few times until your feet feel better.

Clothes can restrict blood circulation to the feet, resulting in cold feet. Wear loose pants or jeans and comfortable socks or stockings. Stay away from elastic clothing materials which can put pressure on your legs and tight fitting shoes; particularly avoid shoes which put pressure around the ankle area which may cause reduced blood flow to the feet. Avoid sitting in positions that put pressure on your legs (e.g. crossing your legs); instead, sit with both of your feet flat on the floor.

    Warming Herbs and Spices

    • Herbal teas and spices that have an overall warming effect on the body can help to increase body temperature and alleviate cold feet. Aromatic spices such as anise, cinnamon, caraway and cloves are particularly warming to the body. Herbs such as ginger, turmeric and sage have anti-inflammatory and warming effects, which may help to increase blood circulation when applied to the feet.

    Cayenne Pepper for Warmer Feet

    • Cayenne pepper has strong skin warming effects and will help to keep feet warm throughout the day. You can sprinkle cayenne pepper directly into your shoes, but red cayenne pepper may stain the inside of the shoes. You may also want to try using cayenne pepper socks; put on one pair of thin socks, sprinkle cayenne pepper into thicker socks and place the thicker socks over the thin socks. This type of cold feet cure is especially beneficial in cold winter climates.

    When to See Your Doctor

    • Cold feet are often caused by outside temperatures, clothes, shoes, slow blood circulation and in some cases cold feet may just be a genetically inherited condition. However, cold feet may sometimes be a symptom of a serious medical condition such as Raynaud's phenomenon, peripheral vascular disease or diabetes. See your doctor if your cold feet begin to develop severe symptoms including: a sore that will not heal, pain or discomfort and swollen or discolored toes.
