Home Remedies to Kill Scabies

Scabies is a highly contagious skin infection caused by a type of mite. Similar to lice, they are quite hard to see. They tunnel under the outer layers of the skin, laying eggs and feeding on blood and resulting in rashes on the wrists, elbow, buttocks, scalp, and soles of the feet. If you don't want to use medications to cure scabies, home remedies are just as effective.
  1. Treatment

    • First and foremost, the infected person may have infected other people in his household. Everyone should be treated simultaneously, even those who don't have symptons. All clothing and bedding must be washed and ironed to kill the mites and their eggs

Fresh apricot leaf juice can be applied over the affected area, and the neem leaf is a popular treatment. Make a paste from dried neem leaves with an equal parts turmeric powder mixed with mustard oil. Apply this mixture to your body and leave on for an hour. Take a bath to remove the mixture. Repeat for a week or longer until the sores have healed.

Dried bark from a peepul tree is another remedy. Ensure that it is powdered and strained through a fine sleeve and dust on the rash where the mites were present.

Adults also treat scabies with neem leaf capsules. Take two or three capsules daily for approximately two weeks. This will boost the immune system, increase blood circulation and fight mites. After two weeks of taking the capsules, take one to two daily for another month after the symptoms have disappeared.

Neem leaf and the peepul bark are available at many farmers' markets, health food stores, and online.

    Prevention

    • Make sure you bathe or shower daily. Avoid sharing clothes, hats, combs, and brushes. Wash your clothes and linens frequently, and avoid wearing unwashed clothes. If you are sexually active, notify your partner immediately.
