Home Remedy for Sinus Pressure & Pain

Sinus pressure and pain usually occur when the sinus cavities become blocked and inflamed with mucus. Sinus pressure and pain may occur in the cheek area, jaw, head or eyes. The pain may last for hours or even days if the sinus cavities are not cleared. There are many home remedies that can be used to relief these symptoms.
  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

    • Apple cider vinegar is known for its many uses. It is made from a variety of different apples to produce a high quality product. It is considered to be one of the most effective home remedies for sinus pressure and pain. A vaporizer can be made from it, by adding 1/2 cup to a bowl of steaming water. Pour the mixture in a bowl and inhale the steam for as long as you can bear it. The steam will help to clear the sinus cavities by loosening the mucus almost instantly. Another effective method of relieving sinus pressure and pain, is by taking it orally. Mix 2 tsp with a glass of water and drink it for quick relief.

    Garlic

    • Garlic, otherwise known as "Allium sativum," has been used for many decades for medicinal purposes. An antibiotic compound called "Phytoncide" is released from the garlic when it is chewed or crushed. This compound helps to eliminate any bacteria or infection that is causing the pressure and pain in the sinus cavities. A clove of garlic can be eaten daily to relieve inflammation of the sinus cavities. To reduce garlic breath, eat a sprig of parsley after eating the garlic. Another effective way to relief the sinus pressure and pain, is by crushing two large cloves of garlic and add it to at bowl of steaming water. Inhale the steam until you feel the mucus starts to drain.

    Eucalyptus oil

    • Use Eucalyptus oil as a vaporize to help clear the sinus cavities. Eucalyptus oil can be used by dropping two drops of the oil in a bowl of steaming water. The steam should be inhaled to aid in the breakdown of mucus.To keep the steam from escaping, place a towel over your head and face while you are inhaling the steam. If the first dose does not cause the mucus to loosen, add some more for a better result. The eucalyptus oil can also be placed on the pillow case right before going to sleep. The vapors will work overnight to clear the sinus cavities.
