DIY: Colon Detox Herb Mix
-
Bentonite Clay
-
Bentonite clay can be found either online or in a health-food store and is a good base for a colon cleanse. Add 1 tsp of bentonite clay into a glass of water and drink one per day. Increase the amount you add to your water until you are adding 4 tsp a day. Bentonite clay helps to cleanse the colon by binding itself to the impurities it finds in the bowel, which then gets passed out through the elimination process.
Psyllium Husks
-
Psyllium husks can be added to the water containing bentonite for more of an herbal detox mixture. This is a fiber that is made up of carbohydrates, and can help diarrhea. These husks will act like a scrub of sorts in the colon, helping to remove impurities that have built up over the years. It is a safe laxative and can be taken in an herbal form. The husks also offer roughage to the digestive system, which again helps with elimination.
Herbal Tea
-
A pot of tea works well for a colon cleanse. Any herbal tea will work, although many choose to use green tea for the best results, as green tea has antioxidants and many healthful benefits within it already. A tea of lemon juice can also be used for a detox. One teaspoon of fresh lemon juice can be mixed with a splash of cayenne pepper into a cup of hot water for a colon cleansing tea.
What to Eat
-
Now that you know what to drink, the next step is food. With a proper detox you will eat very little or nothing at all. Fruit detoxes are very popular, as you are permitted to eat a lot of fresh fruit all day long, providing this is all you eat. Soup detoxes work along the same lines: mix up a batch of fresh vegetable soup, with no added seasoning or meat, and eat this for your detox. You may opt to follow a colon-cleansing plan that has you drinking a special drink such as a mixture of lemon, water, cayenne pepper and organic maple syrup. Whichever you choose, add the bentonite tea, psyllium husks and herbal teas for the best colon-cleanse herb mix.
