1
Select the cotton poplin fabric that you prefer and use scissors to cut a rectangle from the fabric that measures 12 inches wide and 12 inches long.
-
2
Fold the cotton fabric in half along its width so the patterned sides are facing each other.
-
3
Line up the cut edges so that they remain even, then insert straight pins around the edges to hold them in place.
-
4
Sew along the pinned edges while leaving a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave a section about 2 inches long unsewn. Remove all of the straight pins.
-
5
Turn the sewn heat pack form right side out through the unsewn hole. Place a funnel into the hole, and pour in 1 cup of dried rice and 1/2 cup of dried lavender blossoms into it. Remove the funnel.
-
6
Add five drops of lavender essential oil into the open hole, then turn down the edges of the hole by 1/4 inch. Sew the hole closed.
-
7
Heat the herbal heat pack in a microwave oven for 10 to 15 seconds for use.
