Uses for Colloidal Silver Concentrate

Historically colloidal silver concentrate was used to treat all types of infections and bacterial diseases before the discovery of antibiotics. It is currently an alternative medicine that is used for a variety of conditions and is also used for disinfecting, purifying and cleaning.

Illness/Wounds

• Colloidal silver concentrate may be used as a nasal spray to treat colds and rhino viruses, flu, strep throat, pneumonia and respiratory infections. It is basically used as an antibiotic for bacterial and viral infections. It is also used topically to treat cuts, abrasions, burns, sunburn, insect bites, athletes foot, yeast infections and other fungus infections, razor nicks and staph infections.

Skin

• Colloidal silver soap is used to cleanse, moisturize and protect your skin. It is used as a shampoo to treat dandruff and psoriasis. It can be used to treat pimples and acne as you would use hydrogen peroxide. Colloidal silver is applied to skin rashes to control the itch. If it is applied to moles or warts and covered with a bandage overnight, they may disappear.

Sterilization

• Colloidal silver concentrate is used to purify drinking water when camping. It is used to prevent garbage odors in the kitchen as well as washing kitchen towels, sponges and cutting boards to prevent E. Coli and salmonella. Colloidal silver has many other household uses. It can be used in dishwashers, dish water and cleaning solutions to use in the refrigerator and freezer. It is also used to prevent juice and milk from spoiling. Other uses include air ducts, air conditioning filters, humidifiers, carpets, wallpaper, drapes, pet water, bird bath, swimming pools, fountains, foot baths, bath mats, shower stalls, hot tubs and toilets. Anything that you want to clean or sterilize, or anywhere you want to prevent mold and mildew can be treated with colloidal silver.

Eyes/Ears/Mouth

• A small amount of colloidal silver concentrate is diluted with an equal part of distilled water for treating an eye irritation or infection. It may be warmed and used as ear drops to treat an ear infection. Problems with your mouth such as toothaches, sores and infections can be treated with colloidal silver. It may obstruct tooth decay and eliminates bad breath. It may also be used to soak dentures.

Considerations

• According to SilverGen, the first time colloidal silver is used orally, the side effects may be similar to those of a cold or flu, and may also include diarrhea. They recommend starting with a few drops and working up to larger quantities, which are necessary to treat conditions such as infections or asthma. They also indicate that improvements will not be noticed until they reach quantities of four to six ounce doses, taken two or three times each day.

Safety

• According to the Mayo Clinic, colloidal silver use is not considered effective or safe by the Food and Drug Administration. There may be serious side effects from colloidal silver, such as argyria, which is an irreversible change in your skin color to a bluish gray. Other possible problems include seizures, indigestion, headaches, kidney damage, fatigue, skin irritation and drug interactions. Before taking colloidal silver or using it to treat any condition, consult your doctor for advice.
