How to Make a Dried Herb Tincture

- Dried herbs
- Vodka
- Muslin
- Dark glass jar or bottle with lid

Choose the herbs you wish to use. Consider making a tincture with echinacea to use at the first signs of a cold or flu. A valerian tincture is good for promoting sleep.

Add the herbs to three-fourths cup of vodka in a large glass jar. Make sure that your herbs are completely covered and submerged. Seal the jar tightly and place in a warm, dark place for 10 to 14 days. Shake the mixture once or twice a day.

Strain the herbs through a fine piece of muslin, removing as much of the liquid from the herbs as possible.

Pour the tincture liquid into a dark glass bottle. Seal and label; be sure to include the date. The tincture can be stored in the refrigerator up to 12 months.
