Aloe Vera Juice
-
Aloe vera has been commonly used to treat skin infections and burns for its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. The juice of this extract contains a high level of amino acids, molybdenum and methionine, which aid in detoxifying the body and helping to break down fats and proteins. As the aloe vera juice passes through the colon, it works to improve the quality of the colon walls to better transport fecal matter and prevent constipation as well as diarrhea.
Consume two ounces of fresh aloe vera juice with eight ounces of water in the morning. Drink another two ounces of the juice with eight ounces of water before going to sleep. Continue this dosage daily to increase the frequency of bowel movements and to repair damage to the colon walls.
Green Tea
-
The active ingredients within green tea are polyphenols, which when introduced to the body work as powerful antioxidant. Because of the high level of antioxidants, which according to the medical center at the University of Maryland have a higher level than even Vitamin C, green tea is able to regulate toxin levels in the body that can cause constipation.
When the body is unable to release fecal matter, toxins are re-released into the system, which can increase the amount of harmful free radicals. The antioxidant properties in green tea counterbalance the negative effects of these free radicals and thus help prevent damage that can be caused by moderate-to-severe constipation.
Place one teaspoon of loose green tea leaves into a six ounce cup. Boil six ounces of water and pour over the tea leaves. Cover the cup with a plate and allow the tea to steep for three-to-five minutes. Remove the plate and with a fork take out the tea leaves. For a sweeter taste, add one-to-two teaspoons of organic agave nectar and stir. Drink three times per day to relieve constipation and to benefit from its antioxidant properties. For those who are sensitive to caffeine, only consume two servings per day.
