Herbal Treatment for Fungus

Treating a fungus can be an uphill battle. Fungus often grows where the body is naturally warm and moist, and that moisture and warmth keep the fungus alive. There are many over-the-counter and prescription remedies that you can buy to treat fungus. However, herbal treatment for fungus is less likely to cause side effects in many cases, and can be quite effective.
  1. Tea Tree Oil

    • Tea tree oil is a natural anti-fungal. Tea tree oil can clear up athlete's foot and ringworm, among a number of other fungal infections. You can put tea tree oil directly on your skin, but it may cause an irritation, so it is best to test it first. You can also dilute tea tree oil in a carrier oil for topical use.

    Goldenseal

    • Goldenseal can also be quite effective at treating fungus. The chemical compound berberine is found in goldenseal, and berberine can fight infections caused by bacteria, fungus and yeast. Goldenseal is sold in creams, powders, capsules and tinctures. For fungal infections, apply the tincture three times daily.

    Thyme Oil

    • Thyme oil is a powerful anti-fungal that can treat nail fungus, yeast infections and athlete's foot. Apply the tincture to the affected area two to three times daily. This oil also has antiseptic properties that can help prevent infections.
