How to Make Herbal Pastes
Herbal pastes are used to ease the discomfort of sprains, and to cool painful and swollen joints. Boils, abscesses and splinters also have been treated using herbal pastes. Homemade herbal pastes are inexpensive and are relatively simple to make.Things You'll Need
- Small bowl Mixing spoon 2 teaspoons (10ml) powdered oatmeal (available at pharmacies) 4 teaspoons (20ml) herbal tincture Clean water Plastic wrap Medical tape or small adhesive bandages

Place powdered oatmeal and tincture in bowl. Mix together thoroughly using mixing spoon.

If the mixture is not yet the consistency of paste, add a teaspoon of clean water and mix again. If necessary, add additional water a teaspoon at a time until the mixture is spreadable.

Apply a thick layer of herbal paste to the affected area.

Cover the area with plastic wrap and secure to skin with medical tape or bandage.

After four hours, remove the plastic wrap and wash the area. Re-apply paste if necessary. Store unused paste covered in the refrigerator for up to one week.
