Beta-sitosterol is a natural plant compound similar to cholesterol. It is currently being used to treat high levels of LDL cholesterol and relieve enlarged prostate symptoms in men. There are some claims that beta-sitosterol can also help boost your immune system, treat asthma, decrease baldness or hair loss, treat gallstones, alleviate menopause symptoms and increase sexual functioning. However, scientific studies are limited in supporting these additional uses. There are reportedly limited side effects to using beta-sitosterol.-
