How to Make Heating Massage Oil

Heating massage oil made of aromatic essential oils is used to relax and treat aching muscles while the scent wafting from the plant extracts provides its own therapy; calming and clearing the mind. Moreover, heating massage oils turn skin soft and silky to the touch, making it easier for a masseuse to knead the muscles. Rosemary essential oil is used to improve poor circulation and heal muscle cramps and minor arthritis pain. Lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe minor cramps, headache and stress. Lemon and grapefruit essential oils have strong aromatherapeutic properties that are known to calm and relax.

Instructions

    • 1

Combine five drops each of all the essential oils (lemon, lavender, rosemary and grapefruit) in a glass bottle or jar. Seal the jar and let the essential oils mellow and mix together for a couple of days. This will allow the oils to sufficiently blend into each other.

    • 2

Add about 2 oz. of coconut oil to the essential oils mix, and shake the bottle vigorously to blend. Coconut oil is a natural oil that is an excellent skin softening moisturizer. It's also known for its stress-relieving properties.

    • 3

Place the sealed glass bottle in a warm water bath to heat the massage oil. You can also microwave it for about 30 seconds.

    • 4

Apply the heating massage oil to your temples, neck and shoulders. Rub in a circular motion into your skin for a soothing and calming effect, and to alleviate minor aches and pains.

    • 5

Add 1 tsp. of vitamin E to prolong the shelf life. Store in a cool, dry place for future use.
