How to Use Cinnamon as a Treatment for Arthritis

Many people suffer from arthritis, which is caused when joints become swollen and inflamed. However, arthritis medications sometimes have unpleasant side effects, or people with mild arthritis simply do not want to take extra medicine and prefer an alternative treatment. One of the most powerful natural remedies for arthritis is cinnamon. Here is how you can use it as a remedy.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

  • Glass or tea cup

Instructions

    • 1

Heat the water in the microwave. You should heat it on high for about 90 seconds so that it is hot, but not boiling--much like you would drink tea.

    • 2

Mix in the honey and the cinnamon. The honey will dissolve, but the cinnamon may not dissolve entirely.

    • 3

Drink the warm liquid slowly. You should drink it while it is warm, but there is no reason to chug it. Try and treat it as you would a relaxing cup of tea. You may need to stir it periodically to keep the cinnamon from settling.

Drink the cinnamon and honey "tea" twice each day. You should have one cup in the morning for breakfast, and another shortly before bed. Although this sounds like a wives tale herbal recipe, Copenhagen University administered this exact compound to 200 people afflicted with severe arthritis. Over 1/3 reported reduced symptoms within one week, and after one month, nearly all had significantly better mobility with far less pain.
