How to Make Headache Relief Balm
Lavender is an herb that has been used for many years in alternative medicine due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Lavender essential oil is a popular home remedy for soothing headaches when applied to the temples. Here is a recipe to create your own healing lavender headache balm.Things You'll Need
- 2 oz. beeswax
- 3 oz. shea butter
- 4 oz. olive oil
- 20 drops lavender essential oil
- Small jar or container
Instructions

1
Melt 2 oz. of beeswax and 3 oz. of shea butter in a double boiler on medium-high heat. If you do not have a double boiler, fill a medium sauce pot about halfway with water. Place the beeswax and shea butter in a smaller sauce pot and place that into the water in the medium pot, then heat. The double boiler method keeps the wax and shea butter from burning or boiling before it all melts.
-
2
Add 4 oz. of olive oil and about 20 drops of lavender essential oil to the pot once the wax and shea butter have melted completely. You may use more or less of the essential oil as desired for more or less potency.
-
3
Mix ingredients well.
-
4
Scoop the mixture into a small jar or other container such as a lip balm pot.
-
5
Allow mixture to cool and solidify in container.
-
6
Apply some balm to your fingertips and massage into your temples while taking some deep breaths. The massage will add to the soothing effects of the lavender.
